This workshop brought together distinguised European and Korean speakers from the area of Green ICT.
The first KORANET workshop was organised on 20 October 2009 in Istanbul/Turkey with a focus on Green ICT Solutions.
The objective of the KORANET workshop was to bring together researchers, ICT academics and industry to learn about best practices in Korea's international cooperation activities in Green ICT field, to examine the current novel approaches to environmentally friendly ICT solutions and to evaluate the international opportunities to raise awareness on the environmental impact of ICT. Networking with representatives of the Ideal-ist project on ICT and participants of the eChallenges e-2009 conference was also ensured.
Around 35 participants from Korea and Europe attended the KORANET workshop. Korean speakers were Prof. Soo-Won Kim (Korea University) who spoke about Semiconductor Technology, Prof. Sung-Un Kim (Pukyong University) who presented the Green Network, Dr. Sung-Won Lee (Kyunghee University) who gave a presentation on Energy Prosumer Solution in the Smart Grid and Joon-Won Lee (Andong National University) presenting Green ICT Standardisation in Korea. Speakers from Europe included Dr. Burcu Akata Kurç (Middle East Technical University, Turkey) and Jussi Ahola (Technical Research Centre of Finland).
The KORANET workshop on Green ICT Solutions was organised in cooperation with ideal-ist.
